NY's Gun "Fingerprint" Database Is A Failure

Via the dreaded Associated Press.

Since the controversial gun “fingerprint” database was created seven years ago it hasn’t been used for any prosecution.

Anyone that ever walked past a shop class could see the inherent flaw in the system. The markings left on a spent case are easily altered either on purpose or through normal wear. It’s a waste of money.

The article also points out that the theory that guns leave unique marks on fired cases is not scientifically proven.
