Insight X2L

One of the Blog Bash door prizes was this Insight X2L laser/light combo.

insight-x2

I’ve never used a gun mounted light, but I like this X2. It fits on the accessory rail of my XD and it’s small and light enough that it doesn’t alter the balance perceptibly.

The only negative that I’ve seen with it so far is that there is no way to use the laser without the light also being on. I’m not sure what the thinking behind that is, but I’m sure someone knows. (yes, you can remove the light bulb and use the laser without the light.)

So, the X2L can be used as a White Light Only or White Light and Laser?

The Streamlight TLR-2 has a 3-postion mini-toggle switch (Laser, Both, Light).

Why they didn’t do something like that?

    Good question.

I told you reading the manual is cheating.

Hey, it was free, don’t complain 🙂

I would like to go on record as saying that tac rails on subcompact pistols are one of the great “WTF?” things in the gun industry for me.

I agree Tam, I’m trying hard to understand why I would want this (or any other) thing on my subcompact XD and I’m just not getting it.

It fits the full sized XD also and I do see a usefulness there so I’m prepared to ignore the whole “designed for subcompact pistols” thing.

I’d guess the ideal target demographic would be somebody who only owned a subcompact and used it as a house gun, too.
