Can anyone recommend a good, reliable host provider?

I have several domains, so I’m looking for a virtual server or “cloud” (hah) solution. Yes, I’ve run my own servers before, but I have reasons for not wanting to ATM.

Googling for web hosting results in nothing but SEO bullshit and sock puppetry so if you know anyone good, I’d appreciate hearing about it especially if you’ve been happy with a provider.

UPDATE:  I’m going to give GoDaddy a try with this blog.  I already use them for domains so if it works out I’ll move everything over there.

I use hosting matters. no complaints.

I’ve been using GoDaddy for a couple of years now. They killed my sites for a couple of hours one time, but they were appropriately apologetic. They also offer SSH access for shared hosting customers now, which is convenient, especially if you hate FTP. Overall I’m satisfied with them.

Ya know … blogger ( google ) is not bad. They cannot be reliably DOS’ed by some creep.

Chris Byrnie’s Anarchangel blog has weathered several DOS attacks by mid east loons who were offended by his Koran shoot videos.

Google does offer complete hosting solutions …

I’ve been extremely happy with nearlyfreespeech.net. It is shared hosting – not a VPS, but each site has its own private file system. The thing I like most about it is the pay-as-you-go pricing model, sites are charged only for disk space and bandwitdth used. I’ve hosted several small and low traffic sites for under $20 a year.

I’ve been pretty damn happy with Dreamhost. It runs me about $110 a year for all my hosting and registrations. Plus, you can generally bug a current dreamhost customer for a referral to get your first year almost free.

Second the recommendation for DreamHost. Good prices, virtual private servers available, and extremely reliable in my experience.

Draknet.com in Austin. I use them for one of my blogs as well as my gun club’s web site.

Reasonable prices, more bells and whistles than I will ever use, and quick customer service.
