Who is your Doctor?

When I think or hear “Doctor Who” I see this one in my mind:

For me, Tom Baker will always be The Doctor, because that’s who The Doctor was when I started watching the show.

Now we’re on the 11th Doctor, played by Matt Smith and like all new Doctors I have to make up my mind whether I dislike him because he’s new, or he’s just not “The Doctor”.

(Also, while I get older, The Doctor is getting younger. Hmmmm…)

One thing I do like is the new companion, Amy Pond (Karen Gillan).

Yeah, she’s on my list.

So, who’s your Doctor?

Yeah, Tom Baker fan here too.

I could never take that straight haired blond guy seriously.

    David Tennant

Yeah, I didn’t get BBC until I went to college.

Have you found them online yet?

“Also, while I get older, The Doctor is getting younger.”

    Sooo… you’re saying you’re a time lord in reverse?

I started with Jon Pertwee (okay, I’m officially an old phart), but have to say that David Tenant has been the best overall. He was brilliant. Theo Spark has the entire first episode of the new season on his blog, yesterday, and Smith is better than I expected. It will take a few weeks to get a good feel for his grasp of the character, though.

Never watched the show, but that redhead is yummy.

  7. I also admit to never having seen an episode. Now I feel like apologizing! 😉

  8. Borepatch says:

The Mrs. certainly liked David Tenant, and while I’m not a huge fan of the series, I thought he was pretty good.

I actually liked Torchwood better, because the characters there were willing to actually shoot something. But then again, their leader was an American … 😉

Tom Baker is the only Doctor.

David Tennant, though I have to admit Christopher Eccleston got me reinterested in the series.

And good lord, Karen Gillan is a step up from the previous companion…

  11. Eseell says:

I only got into the series last year, so David Tennant is my Doctor. I’m a bit disappointed at how difficult (and expensive) it is to find episodes of the old series, but I’ve got all the new ones on DVD.

Also, you can’t go wrong with a hot redhead.

  12. Dan says:

Agreed it’s all about who was in the role when you started watching it.
So to me it’s Ecclestein. Took me a good season or so to warm up to Tennant but I did. I suspect it will be the same with Smith. Loved the redhead in the police uniform with those stockings though!!

The older stuff I was lucky to catch on PBS sometimes when traveling when I was middle school age or so (local PBS did not have). Now I am torrenting some of the old stuff to catch up.

Sort of like to me Bond is Moore.

David Tennant, though I, too, started with the series reboot and Christopher Eccleston. We’re crossing our fingers for the change…
