    Part of the problem with the (many) occasions for which the perception of security does not match the reality, is that the majority of people will not take any time or effort to educate themselves about, well, much of anything. I have many friends that firmly believe (notice, “believe” not “think”; I’m being deliberately pejorative here, maybe even a bit condescending) that the TSA actually “makes flying safe”. There are other things as well, but that, to me, is the dumbest crap I’ve ever heard. And NOTHING I say will move them an inch off of their belief. I suspected, and this man’s talk reinforces that suspicion, that these people NEED to believe that someone is “doing something” about those pesky terrorists. Oh, well.
