Open Carry, again.

Robb has a great post on open carry activism and I was leaving a comment there but it got long and ranty so I moved it here. Go read his post first, I’ll wait.

I don’t really care about whether open carry is useful or not as a tool for activism. Constitutional rights are, by definition, inconvenient for some people.

Waiting on a warrant is inconvenient for a cop.

Freedom of religion is inconvenient for the one true religion. (whatever that is)

Freedom of the press is inconvenient for those who seek to suppress knowledge.

ALL our rights are inconvenient to those who wish to ignore them for their own purposes.

So, I don’t care if carry, open or concealed, is inconvenient for some people. It’s a Constitutional Right and I’m damned tired of it being violated.

The funny thing is, carrying a gun around with you is really just inconvenient to you only. YOU have to research where you can and can’t carry. YOU have to think about what kind of gun you want, and pay for it. YOU have to lug it around with you all day. I can’t wrap my head around how rights-restrictors have to justify themselves.

    Amen, brother.

“Inconvenient” isn’t a bug – it was the primary design goal.

    Agree with Borepatch… Sigh…

    Seconded/thirded/whatever.

I am no more going to permit my lawful, Constitutionally-protected activities be dictated by someone who finds them “inconvenient” than I am going to do the same for someone who finds them distasteful.

Both parties can not-so-respectfully piss off, especially when they are only bitching out of an overabundance of self-importance.
