Best thing California could do is stop paying federal taxes and stop receiving federal tax money. If it’s possible to plan a national economy, surely California’s top-notch social planners could take one li’l old state and show the rest of us greedy red neck capitalists how it’s done.

This situation reminds me of the chaos during the Dark Ages as waves of steppe barbarians displaced other tribes, which in turn migrated and displaced even more people. The end result was the sacking of Rome. Do we really need to open the gates?
