iPad 2

Apple will announce the iPad 2 on March 2nd.

And since neither I nor anyone else knows anything about it, seems like a perfect time to start obsessing over it.

I’d like to see a USB port and an SD card slot but that’s pretty unlikely.

I’ve heard rumors about a camera, but I don’t see the point. Maybe a front facing one for video conferencing, but even that would be weird. You’d have to hold the thing up and out in front of you to avoid an up the nose shot and that would get tiring after about 15 seconds.

Lighter weight and longer battery life would be nice.

I skipped the 3G and iPhone 4 because it wasn’t different enough from the 2G and the 3Gs (respectively) I had at the time. So far I haven’t heard anything that makes me think the iPad 2 will be all that different.

On the other hand, that Android Honeycomb looks interesting if someone can manage a sub $500 tablet out of it.

I dunno, I’m SURE there will be a ton of upgraders… why? Those that just “have” to have the latest…

I ain’t buying a tablet at anything other than netbook pricing, I know that

Agreed. It needs to be under $500 or it’s a non-starter.

And for myself, I would buy one with integrated WWAN of any kind – my phone already serves out its connection via WiFi. Why pay the additional tariff for a second data plan?

Hmmm … Now that I’m working we get Allowances again. An iPad would be mighty handy for reading blogs during lunch!!
