Something isn’t right here

After a couple of weeks the story of Jose Guerena, the Marine murdered by Pima County AZ SWAT, is starting to bubble up in the press.

He was shot 60 times. Think about that.

And then think about this comment:

Our troops in Afghanistan are not allowed to shoot bomb-planting terrorists unless the terrorists shoot first, yet here in America the police are authorized to mow down (without warning) a citizen in his own home who hasn’t even taken the safety off his rifle?

Yeah, something is not right when the police in the US have looser rules of engagement than the army in a war.

You know what that’s called?

A police state.

They sure are trying, aren’t they?

  3. Newbius says:

The police like to use overwhelming force in individual encounters. Eventually, the People will (hopefully) realize they have been duped (no, really!), and begin to counter this. We did not begin the arms race with our civil servants. Nor, did we ask them to make laws which restrict us while exempting themselves from same.

Given the most recent 4th Amendment jurisprudence, it is only a matter of time before this escalates into a for-real shooting war…

I seem to recall that whole 4th amendment thing being a major reason for the American revolution in the first place.

Of course, given the current property tax regime there’s a good case to be made that you’re just renting your house from the government anyway so as the landlord they have the right to come into the house any time they want. Don’t agree? Try not paying your property taxes and see who winds up with the house and who is on the street.

  5. Jess says:

Yep. You don’t pay your property taxes, they come and get the property; move you out at gunpoint, if necessary.

You hit in on the head: Police State

This is why LEO’s can’t be trusted with full-auto weapons…and they’re not even professional enough to handle a Glock Four-Tay….

It’s time for the Cops to choose which side they are on: The Republic’s or the Gestapo.

Oh, it’s already a for-real shooting war. It’s just that (most) of the shooting is from only one side. Seeing as how the side currently doing most of the shooting is vastly outnumbered, they *should* reconsider their actions.
