ATF: Create the problem then solve it!

From the Wall Street Journal:

The ATF is at the forefront of the government’s efforts to stem the flow of what both the U.S. and Mexican governments say is a flood of U.S. arms to Mexican cartels. ATF agents say stopping that flow is often complicated by gun-owning traditions, particularly in border states, and laws that make it difficult to prosecute illegal weapons sales.

You mean like the thousands of guns the ATF allowed to be purchased and smuggled into Mexico? That flood?

“Fast and Furious” had nothing to do with finding and prosecuting gun smugglers. It was a purely political move to provide a compelling reason to further restrict gun sales in the US.

They created the problem, the issue is, they forgot to solve it…

If they solve the problem how will they justify [an increase in] their budget?

Something I’d like to know is if any dealers refused to sell guns to these runners even with the ATF’s blessing? It would be useful to know that any firearm dealers had the balls to say no to helping the ATF with this travesty of an operation.
