You’re just a serf, living there at the pleasure of the government and paying for it. If you don’t believe me, try not paying your taxes or fail to get the required permit.

The United States are dead! Long live The State!
Zoning, permitting, and taxes have been around a long, long time. Not to mention covenants. Ownership of land has never been absolute. The right of the government to take it outright is even written into the Constitution, although a price must be paid.
But then you have to think about the alternative. A title is a creation of government. It means you can claim to possess land without having to stand on it with a rifle 24/7. I consider property taxes and zoning regulations a fee-for-service. For what I pay in, and for the restrictions I follow, I get the support of my community in maintaining my claim. Hiring armed guards would be more expensive, and without some other way to enforce ownership rights, those guards could always decide to claim it for themselves.
Of course, the cost of ownership (both in $ and in rules to be followed) varies from place to place, and government to government. And if you’ve been paying essentially nothing, any increase is going to hurt. But that’s really a matter of degree.
Only the government owns land; the rest of us lease it, in the form of taxes.

Some states within the US (notably Nevada, and Texas) have provisions for considering land allodial under state law, but such land remains rare.
I would take my chances with the gun cause it is not right to have to pay for something you never really own and most of it is for School taxes with is a joke I worked with the education system and they sure dont get any of it. The government just want to get any extra that you get to line their own pocket
