Crappy rifles for ignorant camel herders

$800K for a NEW Damascus barreled rifle?

Talk about having more money than sense.

“When we came to The Gulf Region for the first time in 2005, we were overwhelmed with the warm reception and hospitality from the leaders and from the people,” says Olsson. “We understood that this is a region where people appreciate traditions and true craftsmanship. It took us more than a year to develop and build the barrels. As far as we know, it is the one and only rifle in the world with barrels made of Damascus steel.”

OMFG, LOL.

Translation: Damn, we found some idiots that will buy any piece of worthless crap if you put a little gold on it and call it exclusive.

Damascus barrels look really cool, but you’ll never see one on the range. Most of the ones I’ve seen have either been at the back of the gun safe, hanging on the wall, or in a glass case with dramatic lighting.

I also know a few old timers who in their misguided youths who blew up Damascus shotguns by doing little more than feeding them a box of modern (and by “modern” I mean “made in the 20th Century”) ammo.

I own a few guns that I don’t feel comfortable shooting, but I didn’t spend any serious amount of money on them.

Who the hell decided on that ugly forend cap? A nice schnabel forend would have actually fit the design. And no iron sights, WTF? That thing’s going to look even stupider with a scope. What a pile of shit, I could buy a fancy-ass hunting rifle for $30000 and spend the rest on a couple of Ferraris for the price of this tacky motherfucker.

To be fair, they’re not saying they’re making Damascus barrels. They say they are using Damascus steel to make modern type barrels.

Now, I don’t care where you get the steel from – Japan, US, Damascus — it’s all the same chemically, iron and carbon. But it’s a great marketing plow if you can find suckers to buy into it– and they have. But to me no rifle is worth 820K no matter how pretty, how good the craftsmanship or how functional you make it.

My wife’s uncle has a Damascus-barrelled, side-by-side shotgun. Know what he uses it for? Over-the-fireplace decor.
