Is Senator Dianne Feinstein so crazy that she actually thinks this will work?

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said that she and other gun control advocates are considering a law that would create a program to purchase weapons from gun owners, a proposal that could be compulsory.

“We are also looking at a buy-back program,” Feinstein said today in a press conference. “Now, again, this is a work in progress so these are ideas in the development.”

Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., already discussed the possibility of a buy-back law for his state, but he made clear it would be a forced buyback.

“Confiscation could be an option,” Cuomo told The New York Times yesterday when discussing semiautomatic weapons. “Mandatory sale to the state could be an option. Permitting could be an option — keep your gun but permit it.”

Let me be perfectly clear and up front.

Hell no.

No Registration, no confiscation and no compulsory buy-backs.

Molon Labe you deluded bitch.

Attempted confiscation means war, Feinstein. Bring it, if you dare.

Well, as far as a National AWB, I don’t think it will Fly. BUT I can see various VolksRepubliks doing things on a State Level. Think of the Sillyness in New Jersey with their Ammo Bans. And let’s not forget Barry will issue ‘Executive Orders” at the Drop of Hat. So stay tuned, and be glad you live in a Free State.

There was something else interesting in that presser of hers, so I called up her office today during lunch. The staffer I talked with knew jack about guns, but gave me their summary of the law.

They ban 120 guns by name, and then have two more categories:
    1) Any semi-auto (rifle, pistol, or handgun) that takes a detachable magazine and has One evil feature.
    2) Any semi-auto rifle or handgun that has a fixed magazine with a capacity greater than 10 rounds.

They also ban any magazine with more tan 10 rounds capacity, but they couldn’t tell me how these fit in with their grandfathering scheme.

The grandfathering scheme = call it grandfathering, and do something else:
The are going to try to reclassify all of the banned guns as NFA items. They could not tell me if this would be done under the Machine Gun rules or a newly created set of rules. Either way, it would require full registration under the NFA and CLEO approval. Plus, the ban on manufacture and import includes a ban on transfer. They weren’t sure if this will mean that you Cannot transfer the guns like other NFA weapons, or if they are just banning the transfer of them outside this registration scheme.

I think that the requirement for CLEO approval (and the requirement that your state even allow the possession of NFA articles) is why they are talking about a buyback–to give some pittance of compensation to people who are not allowed to keep their grandfathered weapons. Of course, the staffer was too dumb to verify this.

Finally, the law gives a bunch of money to the ATF for them to use pursuant to the registration scheme.

You’re right, this is a BIG Hell No. We must stop this in the House. If the Republicans lose their nerve, we lose our preferable options.

Wow, the gun nutter is strong here… I’m glad you boys need a piece of metal and black plastic to feel like men but Jesus fuck Crotalus, war? “I DON’T LIKE A POTENTIAL FEDERAL LAW AND IF IT PASSES I’LL ATTEMPT TO KILL THOSE WHO ENFORCE IT WAAAAH.”

You know comments like yours are why right thinking people argue that no one should have guns, right?

  5. alan says:

No Geoff, that’s EXACTLY why the 2nd amendment exists and why “right thinking people” are exactly wrong.

  6. Mark says:

Geoff, lay off the dick jokes and think about this for a second. Millions of your fellow citizens feel the same way – I do, as a matter of fact.
If it is important enough to us to fight and die over, shouldn’t you be willing to give it a bit more thought? I mean real thought, as opposed to parroting VPC/Feinstein soundbites.

  7. Old NFO says:

Alan, I have no doubt she’s going to try… sigh… And HELL NO is right!

  8. Firehand says:

‘Buy-back’ of something they never had equals ‘forced buy-back’ because they’re mostly too chickenshit to openly say ‘confiscation’. I think Cuomo slipped and admitted that’s what it is, or maybe somebody pinned him with a question and he couldn’t overlook it.

Let’s see, the NFA database is already incomplete and inaccurate; can you imagine the nightmare of trying to add all that to it? Which is probably her intention; look for a rider along the lines of “If the paperwork cannot be completed in proper time(our decision) then the firearms in question must be forfeited to the government.”

Geoff, you made Markley’s Law come true. And in the 4th comment, yet. You do realize we’re talking about politicians telling honest citizens that their property will be seized, just because the politicians and their minions don’t like said property? And they’re willing to use threat of jail and death to do it? And you’re upset with US?

  9. Firehand says:

Speaking of idiocy, had a guy tell me earlier today that it should be illegal to manufacture a shotgun that’ll hold more than 5 rounds because ‘you don’t need more than that for self-defense or hunting’. And extension tubes should be treated the same as silencers, NFA items.

He also wanted the .223 and 5.7×28 cartridges AND any loading equipment for such and ANY firearms- including bolt guns- chambered for them to be banned from civilian ownership; he ‘doesn’t like people having them, and you can use something else.’ Asked him when that would get to .308 and everything else, but got no answer.

  10. anon gun owner says:

Mark: These libtards think we are bluffing.

They will continue to think we are bluffing, until we start hanging politicians and gunning down retards with “Obama” stickers on their cars at stop lights.

They have no fucking clue what kind of a civil war this will kick off.

It will not be a clean one like the last one.

  11. Oakenheart says:

If they push it too far, I feel their ideological support in media, universities, etc are legitimate targets of war.

  12. Chris C. says:

It will be interesting to see which fear is more important to Congress-critters: massive dis-election like what happened after the AWB if they vote for some anti-gun bill, or getting the Chicago treatment if they don’t. On the one hand the massive amounts of firearms and ammo being bought indicate an implied intent to resist any kind of confiscation or registration. On the other hand, Obama was re-elected.

Living near Baltimore, MD, my CongressClown is a lock-step statist waste of air, so there is no point writing to him. There is nothing he could do short of murdering Honey Boo-Boo on the evening news to lose an election here. And our local politicians are also talking confiscation, without a mention of compensation at all.

In civilized states, however, letting the feeders-at-the-trough know how gun owners feel about this should point out the folly of such legislation to their future in the District of Corruption.

  13. Matthew says:

Why is it that the most emotionally insecure individuals always equate the gun with penis…such as Geoff?

We can deduce from the statements such individuals make that THEY infact have a broad range of sexual and instability issues and since they can not stand up for essentially anything beyond the normal drone of a bee, they can not grasp the idea of bravery, equality for all, and have little respect for the idea of freedom, let alone any moral fiber.

Geoff is the typical small weak male who must allow others to do the thinking and fact finding for him.
