Flagship Detroit at PHL

When we pulled up to the gate at PHL Tuesday morning, this lovely lady was parked next to the terminal.

AA Flagship Detroit-1

This DC-3 is American Airlines’ “Flagship Detroit” one of their original DC-3s first operated in 1937. It’s the oldest DC-3 still flying. The DC-3 has always been one of my favorite airplanes and this one is beautifully maintained. I prowled around for a bit but couldn’t finagle a way down to see it.

AA Flagship Detroit-2

The AA employees were all over it taking pictures. Even the pilot of our MD Super 80 was down there climbing into her before the first class cabin had emptied.
