He may have reveled evidence of the political motivation behind operation Fast and Furious.

In a letter to AG Holder:

The evidence we have gathered raises the disturbing possibility that the Justice Department not only allowed criminals to smuggle weapons but that taxpayer dollars from other agencies may have financed those engaging in such activities.

The cartels have plenty of money to buy all the guns they want. They get them from the Mexican government or the Chinese or any other arms dealing nation. They don’t have to come to the US and buy retail. More and more this is looking like a political operation, Obama’s Reichstag fire to give political cover for new gun control laws.

The ATF is at the forefront of the government’s efforts to stem the flow of what both the U.S. and Mexican governments say is a flood of U.S. arms to Mexican cartels. ATF agents say stopping that flow is often complicated by gun-owning traditions, particularly in border states, and laws that make it difficult to prosecute illegal weapons sales.

You mean like the thousands of guns the ATF allowed to be purchased and smuggled into Mexico? That flood?

“Fast and Furious” had nothing to do with finding and prosecuting gun smugglers. It was a purely political move to provide a compelling reason to further restrict gun sales in the US.

In a second, equally explosive disclosure, a law enforcement source tells Fox News, that ATF undercover agents were acting as the straw buyers and purchasing guns using government-issued false identifications and then providing those guns to cartel traffickers to gain credibility in their undercover roles. In that capacity, the ATF “provided 2, 50 cal. machine guns to traffickers that are loose in Mexico and unaccounted for,” the source said.

Yet, the ATF and the Department of Justice did not shut down the operation.

The ATF has been a rogue agency since they were looking for a reason to exist after the end of prohibition. It’s time to put a stop to it.

Again, ATF has always been an agency in search of a mission. It’s just no fun to bust untaxed cigarette smugglers, and you’ll never get a fawning Katie Couric interview that way! The best way for ATF to “clarify” it’s mission is to figure out a way to make more law-abiding Americans into criminals. –Michael Bane

A U.S. senator is examining a claim that two guns sold in purchases sanctioned by federal firearms agents were later used in a December shootout that left a Border Patrol agent dead near the Arizona-Mexico border.

Republican Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa said in a letter provided Monday to The Associated Press he had received information that appears to partially corroborate the claim received by members of the Senate Judiciary Committee about the guns.

Somehow the ATF has managed to stay in existence despite it’s long record of abuse and failure. I hope this is the nail that puts that out of control agency out of business.

The 2nd Amendment is a civil right and we don’t need people antagonistic to civil rights anywhere in the government, let alone the ATF.

Yeah, I know the bill of rights is trampled on daily in DC but that still doesn’t make it right.
