For the past few years, every time Monkey’s birthday has rolled around, we have a party, but we ask guests to bring food donations for the local food bank instead of presents.
This year she was able to donate over 150 pounds of food to the food bank. She also goes through her closet and puts together a donation box for the charity resale shop.
So on her birthday she gets to have a party with her friends, but she’s not loaded down with a lot of toys she doesn’t need, and she’s learned how important it is to share with the less fortunate.
Which is good because she’s spoiled enough already. That’s my job and I take it seriously.
