Yesterday I bought a new Springfield XD in .40 S&W.
My problems with using the Sig left handed in the IDPA match made me question it’s suitability as a carry gun for me. Although IDPA is not a real world situation, it’s closer than standing still and punching holes in paper at a traditional range. I figure that if I have problems with it in IDPA then in the real world it will only be worse.
A 1911 .45 is still my favorite pistol, I don’t see that changing, but I’ve never been able to find one I like for daily concealed carry. I can’t use a Glock because of the left handed thing again. I also don’t like the trigger on Glocks. The trigger on the XD is a little spongy, but it’s better than a Glock.
I expected to get the XD in .45, but after trying both the .45 and the .40, the .40 just felt better.
