I bought a set of TruGlo TFO sights to replace the factory sights on the XD .40. I was hoping to correct the alignment problem (it’s shooting low) and I like how bright the TFOs are outside.
I hauled out my trusty sight alignment tool and… Nothing.
I read on teh intertubes that the XD’s factory sights are very difficult to remove, but I didn’t expect it to be impossible.
Next up, slide in a vise and a whack with a hammer and punch… Nothing.
Penetrating oil and overnight in the freezer, another whack with a hammer and punch… Nothing.
I gave up and took it to a gunsmith. I could have milled off the factory sights, but I’m inherently lazy and I’d already spent too much time messing with it.
