Finally. At last WP-Admin has some life to it.
Google Gears caches the wp-admin files locally so you don’t have to dl them every time you hit the admin screens. (It’s the new “Turbo” link in the upper right of the admin screen)
Phenomenal speed increase in your WP admin screens, even on a relatively fast connection.
I used automatic upgrade to move to WP 2.6 which somehow failed to install a couple of necessary files. So if you’re getting an error that looks something like this:
…wp-includes/js/swfupload/swfupload_f9.swf’ returned response code 404
You’re missing some files from the WP 2.6 install. Stick the missing files where they belong (you can get them from the 2.6 zip file), then disable/enable Google Gears and reload the page.
Thanks a lot! I had this problem because I also use the wp automatic upgrade plugin (well worth it in my opinion) just downloaded the 2.6 zip file, and uploaded the wp-includes/ folder setting it to skip any files that were already there…
It worked perfectly. Thanks again…
