Common Sense at the TSA?

I’m shocked.

Despite breathless reporting, it looks like someone at the TSA checkpoint in Kennedy Airport displayed an unusual level of common sense.

Federal airport screeners found two grenades in the luggage of a man set to board a JetBlue flight at New York’s Kennedy airport, according to MyFOXNY.com.

TSA specialists then determined that the explosives were inert and allowed the passenger to board the plane without ever informing police, the TV station’s Web site reported.

I’ll point out that there’s no such thing an an “inert explosive”. It’s either an explosive or it’s not. Perhaps they were dummy grenades, which are inert, but that means they’re paper weights, not explosives.

Kudos to the unnamed screener who decided not to waste everyone’s time over a couple of lumps of metal.
