“Steve Jobs is killing the music business.” — Jon Bon Jovi

Jon Bon Jovi accusing Jobs of killing the music business is like a twice divorced politician claiming that gays will destroy the sanctity of marriage.

  1. Jess says:

In the old days, musicians were given contracts, money, booze, drugs, women and told where to go. Some made millions; most made a few bucks and were locked out of the business because they signed contracts that prevented them from selling their talents to others without permission. Now, it’s a different market, and the thievery is open to all, instead of big record companies.

But Bon Jovi’s a cowboy(from New Jersey). On a steel horse he rides. j/k

Jobs merely changed the music business. An artist can now put a few songs/videos on the internet and Youtube and become an overnight success. I’ve found a few artists with real talent this way rather than the cookie cutter pretty boys and screaming sound-effect banshees the record companies keeps foisting on the music loving public. We now have a choice of who we want to listen to.

Jon Bon Jovi accusing Jobs of killing the music business is like Newt Gingrich claiming that gays will destroy the sanctity of marriage.

    Simplified that for ya!

  4. Gudis says:

Jon Bon Jovi has been busy killing music itself with his terrible fucking songs for decades now.

  5. One of the comments to that piece said something about buying a record that had one good song and all the rest of the songs sucking. If that was the case they were buying records from the wrong bands. I’d bet it WAS the case with bands like Bon Jovi, Warrant and Winger…but Metallica, Queensryche & Iron Maiden? Solid gold, from beginning to end. I have all of Metallica’s & QR’s earlier stuff and three of Maiden’s ’80s cds (The Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind & Powerslave) and they’re all excellent from start to finish.

But yeah, Jon Bon Jovi is a blithering idiot. Where exactly did he and those who agree with him think the tech was going to go after cds? Especially with the advent of the Internet and high-speed data transmission?

  6. Steve says:

    Leave Jon Bon Jovi alone!!!

It’s his life. It’s like an open highway, he’s gonna do it his way. Because he can’t go home again.

    Or something.
