That reminds me how much I love camping in the winter. Cold nights by the fire. Cooking up tasty food out in the open woods.
Maybe it’s because I live in Texas and it’s just too hot in the summer, but I’ve always preferred to camp in the winter.

We typically go winter camping with one of Sebastian’s co-workers for a weekend. Granted, it’s hardly roughing it. They bring in heaters and all sorts of stuff. Last year they even had a generator buried in the snow and it powered a tv and video game console. (It wasn’t played that much, I think it was more the novelty factor of “can we do it?”)
It is very cold though. The one year we slept in our car instead of the tent, we found out that bags rated to zero degrees do not keep you warm or remotely comfortable at zero degrees. They merely keep you alive. There was ice all along the inside of the car because the moisture in our breath was freezing.
It’s more for fun than anything, but the people we stay with actually go up for an entire week.
Of course another great thing about winter camping is: NO BUGS!
