Talk about your out of control HOA. (but I repeat myself)
58-year-old former Marine now finds himself under attack by his Dallas homeowners association for displaying seven decals on his vehicle supporting the Marine Corps.
The board says the decals are advertisements that violate HOA rules, and must be covered or removed.
Otherwise, the homeowners association for The Woodlands II on The Creek — where Larimore has lived for eight years — says in a letter it will tow the car at Larimore’s expense. The board also threatens to fine him $50 for any future incident.
Oh, so this is the only car in the neighborhood with stickers on it?
Oops, I guess not:
The letter from the board states you can’t have any form of advertisement anywhere on your car on your property. FOX 4 cameras spotted bumper stickers for political parties, health causes, and other non-commercial interests on the property as well.
To this long time resident is being singled out because of his Marine Corps stickers. Well, I guess it’s ok, if he’s a veteran the government thinks he’s a terrorist anyway. Might as well tow his car too.
I say he should sue the bastards! I hate HOAs with a passion, though…so maybe I’m biased?
[…] Sounds just like my HOA morons […]
Yeah, but suing is really expensive. If they touch a car parked on private property, it’s car theft, pure and simple.
I’ve repeatedly told our realtor that we will not under any circumstances consider a house with a HOA. I don’t care how cheap it is, I’m not letting any bunch of busybodies with too much free time on their hands tell me what I can’t do.
Fuck ’em.
I’m with you PDB, the wife and I were looking at options on how to best buy a home. We ruled Condos out pretty quick, I do NOT want to be a Massachusetts gun owner under the prying eyes of an HOA or Condo Assosiation. That can ONLY end badly.
Also another great example of “Tollerence” from the Left. (I’m making a bit of a leap, but I’m betting those political signs and stickers weren’t for John McCain, the NRA, or Ron Paul)
