Old AND Clueless

One of the problems with Social Security:

Said one senior: “Social Security is an insurance, it’s not a gift, it’s not welfare.”

Sorry Anonymous “Senior”, it most certainly is welfare.

Worse, it’s welfare for rich, old people paid for by poor young people.

And they keep pretending in the article comments that SS is somehow funded by past FICA taxes.

An IOU by the Treasury does not constitute funding.

Every last dime of FICA was spent as soon as it was collected, since the John son administration.

    Can you say Ponzi?
    I knew you could!

Actuality, it not even an insurance, it’s a tax and because of that the government is under no obligation to pay any of it out.

It was sold under the idea that it was ‘like’ insurance, but in the end the Feds have no obligation under law to pay it out to anyone.

Now doesn’t that suck even more

Yet, with all the information about Social Security’s inherent, fraudulent instability available, most of my non-libertarian friends cannot conceive of the possibility that their beloved government (at least, beloved when their “side” is in control) would *lie* to them.

In Canada, the government even went as far as calling it “Social Insurance”. So it must be insurance, right? 😉

I’ve got just five words about SS:

    I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!

I’ve paid into the system for over three decades. I want every penny, plus anything more I can retrieve from the thieving bastards who have stolen 15% of every dollar I’ve ever generated.
