Kilted to Kick Cancer

Ambulance Driver has challenged his fellow bloggers to raise money and awareness of testicular and prostate cancer. And in typical AD fashion he picked a different way to do it.

So, here’s me in a kilt.

There’s some kind of contest going on, with prizes for the blogger that gets the most donations but that doesn’t really matter. The important thing is to get your junk and your prostate checked.

From AD’s blog:

Prostate Cancer Facts:

About 240,890 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed in 2011.
About 33,720 men will die of prostate cancer in 2011.
About 1 man in 6 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime.
More than 2 million men in the United States who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point are still alive today.
Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men, behind only lung cancer.
About 1 man in 36 will die of prostate cancer.

Testicular Cancer Facts:

It most often affects men between ages 20 and 39.
It affects 8,000 men a year, and kills 390 of them.
It is the most common form of cancer in men ages 15-34.
95% of cases can be cured if detected early.

Early detection is the key so man up and get that exam.

If you feel like donating money to the Prostate Cancer
Foundation you can go here:

If you’re a blogger and want to help go see AD.

I’ll be posting photos of me in a kilt throughout the month of September.

You have been warned.

After having Dinner with You-Know-Who last night, and where we are all to meet Friday Night, I’m not sure it’ll pass the Dress Code. However, since Saturday is supposed to be Hot and Sticky, I’d wear it then.

You do know there are tests that don’t require manual, digital, “manipulation”? My Kaiser poop-test was negative and I’m not wearing as dress.

    DirtCrashr,

No there aren’t. Testiclar cancer can only be detected with a manual exam, then with further testing if suspcious.

Prostate CA can be screened for with a PSA test, but digital rectal exam remains the gold standard, followed by prostate biopsy.

Colorectal cancers can be screened with a fecal occult blood test, but the gold standard remains colonoscopy.

pony up slackers. I just did. Alan in a kilt is just too good not to kick in a few bucks.
He was all sunglasses and quasi-tactical when we met at the BAR blogshoot. We’re seeing his “softer” side now.
I had no idea he was of Scottish decent…
