It’s somehow appropriate that the two days I’m in Phoenix are the darkest, cloudiest, rainiest the Valley of the Sun have seen in years.
I took a long lunch and drove the Apache Trail to Tortilla Flat.
It’s a twisty road that has sheer cliffs on one side and sheer drop offs on the other. There are also a couple of one lane bridges along the way.
And various prickly flora.
But the coolest thing was a real life, Road Runner style flash flood at Tortilla Flats.
A couple of trucks went through while I was watching, but I didn’t want to risk turning the rental car into an impromptu raft ride.
Very beautiful pictures you have taken
