I squeaked a marksman classification this morning.
Not as bad as I feared, but not as good as I hoped. I had no expectation of a higher classification, after all I’ve only been shooting IDPA club matches for two months.
I discovered in the match after the classifier that I scored better if I didn’t slow down to aim. It’s counter-intuitive, but I actually hit center mass of more targets and shot quicker strings when I point shot. When I aim, I think I’m slowing down to get a good sight picture then hurrying the shot.
