The great thing about a vacation is how good it is to get back home.
Galveston seems a little more run down than it was even a couple of years ago. The visitor’s center on Seawall Blvd. is gone, and the trolley wasn’t running.
Unfortunately it’s the closest beach to where I live. South Padre Island is nicer, but it’s 600 miles away. Too far to drive for a weekend trip. Port Aransas is a little closer, but 444 miles is still too far for a weekend.
Oh well, it’s warm enough to clean off the boat and start sailing in Lake Lewisville again. I think the water in the lake is cleaner than the Gulf anyway and I don’t have to worry about the jellyfish.
