All I see is more things to break

This must be the semi-auto equivalent of the Chiappa Rhino.

I don’t much care for either one. Looks like too many fiddly parts to break.

Anybody know of a similar precedent that pulls the cartridge from the magazine and moves it rearward to chamber?

The reduction in length is nifty. I can see a potential for some hella bad clearance drills in the event of extractor failure or doublefeeds, but that depends a lot on how clever they are with the design.

    A bull-pup pistol??

I liked shooting the Rhino. It seems very solid, and I haven’t shot anything that has less recoil in .357 mag. Just sayin’.

Sure, it’s butt ugly, and the jury will still be out on reliability, but it seemed pretty damn solid to me.

Automatics have been pretty well perfected. A firearm manufacturer run by democrats? “If it ain’t broke, fix it til it is.” I would like to get my hands on a rhino, just to check it out; that actually seems like a good idea.

Belt feed uses a mechanism like this to get ammo from the belt on the feedplate down to the firing chamber.

The big flaw is that it seems like clearing a jam would be a pain. After you drop the mag and lock the slide on a push fed semi-automatic, you’ve got a huge hole going all the way through the gun. With this you’ve go some blind corners that are bound to complicate things. I don’t love it.

Tam cited the Mars Automatic Pistol as a precedent a while back.

I dunno anything about it, I just remember seeing the reference fly by.

  8. Jeff says:

The Semmerling micro .45 was a manually activated pistol in which the slide and barrel were pulled forward, then back over the top round in the magazine.
    (I think)

Not quite the same but equally “one off”.

Wow, I havent seen that action since the M1919.

I give them a big pat on the back for creativity !
