FBI: FAIL

FBI: All your seal are belong to us.

Wikipedia: WTF?

“While we appreciate your desire to revise the statute to reflect your expansive vision of it, the fact is that we must work with the actual language of the statute, not the aspirational version.”

That’s gonna sting.

  1. Reading the reply to the fibbies, ya gotta love the snark!

And “with all appropriate respect.”? I think he meant ‘make me a sammich, bitch’.

  2. I get maybe three emails a week from the “FBI”, that include the seal and official-looking headers, telling me they have checked over and okay-ed delivery of my foreign “lottery winnings”.

I have forwarded a few to the real FBI for investigation, and never even have gotten an acknowledgment back.

Sure looks like they have their priorities straight.

So are the tear gas grenades and buckshot when some poor IT schlub goes to see what that battering ram sound on the server farm’s front door is. And the staple gun they attach the “warrant” to his forehead with on their way through probably won’t feel like sunshine either.

    LOLOLOL Outstanding!

Of course, my co-workers now have conclusive proof that I have lost whatever wits I may have at one time possessed…

“May we talk a little bit further about ejusdem generis and your creative editing of the statute? I have reproduced the full statute below. (It is helpfully titled “§ 701. Official badges, identification cards, other insignia” – I note that your idealized version of the statute omitted the section title.)”

“Creative editing”? “Idealized version”? I almost fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard.

  5. TJP says:

“Michael Godwin, the general counsel of the Wikimedia Foundation, wrote, ‘we are prepared to argue our view in court.’ He signed off, ‘with all appropriate respect.'”

Yeah, but you know how that argument’s going to go: it’ll continue until one of them compares the other to Hitler or Nazis.

  6. Linoge says:

If only more people and organizations had responded in similar fashions to previous governmental grabs for powers that were beyond their purview in the past… then, maybe, we would not have this one.

Of course, then we would not have it to laugh at, so there is that…
