Michael Bane has what will probably be the first shot from the liberals in the coming battle over gun rights.
From John Rosenthal on HuffPO:
President-elect Obama should implement seven tested and proven initiatives that will have an immediate impact on reducing gun related violence, accidents and suicides without affecting the Second Amendment or having any negative impact on responsible and law abiding gun owners.
Isn’t it nice how he doesn’t want to affect 2nd Amendment rights or have a negative affect on gun owners?
Not so fast:
#1 Mandatory criminal background checks for all gun sales
Bans private transfers of firearms. Closing the “gun show loophole” which would mean all firearm transfers would have to go through a dealer. Want to give your son the .22 you got from your dad? Has to go through a dealer or you’re both looking at 10 in the Pen.
#2 Require responsible and safe gun storage for all firearms unless they are in the owners direct control
Means you probably won’t have your gun available when you need it to defend your family.
#3 Allow Law Enforcement to maintain and share critical “crime-gun” trace data
This is back door registration.
#4 Restore and improve the Federal Ban on Assault Weapons
Bans most semi auto guns. (Like the ones that have been selling like crazy for the last few months.)
#5 Repeal the Federal law giving Immunity to the gun industry
Manufacturers will have to defend themselves against nuisance lawsuits designed to run them out of business.
#6 Enact National Consumer Product Safety Commission regulations for firearms
Firearms will be regulated out of existence in the name of consumer safety. There’s no such thing as a safe gun.
#7 Create incentives for the gun industry to make “personalized guns”
“Smart guns” again. Won’t work, and it’s just stupid.
Now which of those weren’t supposed to affect law abiding gun owners or 2nd Amendment rights?
This is the complete laundry list the anti gun liberals have wanted for decades. They think they can do it now that Barrack “Gun Ban” Obama is the new “ruler” and they have a majority in Congress.
Are you ready?
None of this is surprising, but all of it is heartbreaking.
