More bullshit on the budget

Washington Post:

Because Republicans propose to exempt the Pentagon, veterans programs and homeland security from these cuts, liberal analysts said the reductions would decimate education funding, the National Park Service and other worthy programs.

“worthy programs” Says who? If they’re worthy then someone would be doing it for a profit. If someone isn’t then it’s either not worthy or the government prevents them by law. Either way the government shouldn’t be doing it.

Then there is “decimate”. Decimate means cut by 10%.

Either they don’t know what decimate means or they think a 10% budget cut is too horrific to imagine. Has anyone out there in the real world not had to cut the budget by at least 10% lately? It’s not that hard. There’s 10% of slack in any budget.

“Congress has never failed to increase the debt limit when necessary,” Treasury spokesman Steve Adamske said. “And we are confident Congress will act in 2011 to ensure that the full faith and credit of the United States is protected.”

What good is a debt limit that you keep raising? Might as well not have one. And how does going more into debt “ensure that the full faith and credit of the United States is protected” anyway?

What a load of crap.

I thought the debit limit was to ensure faith and credit in the US. If we can’t keep a budget how can anyone have faith in us and how do we acquire credit? I’d like to see homeland security be included in those taking a budget cut, as they have yet to. Both veteran programs and the Pentagon have taken cut in previous years, but i do not remember Homeland Theater having it’s budget cut. I’d also like to know the metrics used to justify the theater’s budget. Bet it isn’t based on how much intel it develops and uses to stop threats, but how many alerts it issues or some similarly less useful data point.

The usual scare tactics. “OMG, the XYZ reductions will cause people to spontaneously ignite and birds to fall from the sky!”

We’ll have another 4 trillion in promises dropping on top of the 3.5 we burned through this year:

Everything’s going to be cut whether or not anyone likes it.

(The article’s good for a laugh if you like your humor black and strong. The nations that hold most of the wealth are going to borrow 10 trill. FROM WHO? LOL!)

I used to think that all you old people were doing this stuff and going to make me pay for it in the future. Now it looks like we’re all in it together what with this rapid acceleration toward the cliff.

I’m in favor of decimating the government.

Divide all government employees into groups of ten, and have them draw straws. Loser is either killed by the other nine, or all ten are executed.

I’m surprised that the Dems would come up with such a useful suggestion!

I think I’ll more interested in hemimating the federal budget outside of defense.

An interesting thought, though… Decimate can also mean cut TO 10%.

Imagine there’s no budget, it’s easy if you try
