A loony environmentalist (redundancy alert) is in the Discovery Channel HQ.

OK, I’m sure there are a LOT of loony environmentalists in the Discovery Channel HQ, but this one seems to be shooting and may have a bomb.

His purported demands are incoherent so it’s possible that this guy really is loony. (and I use loony here in the clinical sense)

Now that bedbugs are causing liberals “anguish” it should be an easy sell.

It’s not a problem for millions of people to die in Africa but bedbugs in Manhattan?

CRISIS!!!!

Yet another reason to throw the bums out:

Senator Max Baucus (Democrat) thinks the job Montana voters sent him to do is a waste of time.

“I don’t think you want me to waste my time to read every page of the health care bill. You know why? It’s statutory language,” Baucus said. “We hire experts.”

Actually, Max, I do want you to read and understand every word in the bill.

It’s your fucking job, asshole.

Saw this on Gateway Pundit yesterday then Kevin posted about it today.

There are 70 Congressional Democrats that are members of the Socialist Party.

You can see the list at the link, and there are other links to the original documents.

The 70 are the usual suspects, the ones you always knew were socialists.

The thing is, that was in a news letter published in 2009. It was no secret that these people were socialists.

But if you had asked them then, I bet they would have denied it.

Probably would even today.

I have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg.

The Daily Caller has obtained copies of email from the Journolist that show major media figures plotting to kill stories about Jeremiah Wright prior to the 2008 election.

It was the moment of greatest peril for then-Sen. Barack Obama’s political career. In the heat of the presidential campaign, videos surfaced of Obama’s pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, angrily denouncing whites, the U.S. government and America itself. Obama had once bragged of his closeness to Wright. Now the black nationalist preacher’s rhetoric was threatening to torpedo Obama’s campaign.

The crisis reached a howling pitch in mid-April, 2008, at an ABC News debate moderated by Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos. Gibson asked Obama why it had taken him so long – nearly a year since Wright’s remarks became public – to dissociate himself from them. Stephanopoulos asked, “Do you think Reverend Wright loves America as much as you do?”

Watching this all at home were members of Journolist, a listserv comprised of several hundred liberal journalists, as well as like-minded professors and activists. The tough questioning from the ABC anchors left many of them outraged. “George [Stephanopoulos],” fumed Richard Kim of the Nation, is “being a disgusting little rat snake.”

Others went further. According to records obtained by The Daily Caller, at several points during the 2008 presidential campaign a group of liberal journalists took radical steps to protect their favored candidate. Employees of news organizations including Time, Politico, the Huffington Post, the Baltimore Sun, the Guardian, Salon and the New Republic participated in outpourings of anger over how Obama had been treated in the media, and in some cases plotted to fix the damage.

And lest you think this is a new phenomenon, ever wonder why the feminists never had a problem with Clinton?

Katha Pollitt – Hayes’s colleague at the Nation – didn’t disagree on principle, though she did sound weary of the propaganda. “I hear you. but I am really tired of defending the indefensible. The people who attacked Clinton on Monica were prissy and ridiculous, but let me tell you it was no fun, as a feminist and a woman, waving aside as politically irrelevant and part of the vast rightwing conspiracy Paula, Monica, Kathleen, Juanita,” Pollitt said.

I’ve never thought much of the media, but I always assumed their attitude was from groupthink. Now we learn it’s the result of active conspiracy to shape the news and push the liberal agenda.

No more benefit of the doubt. They have shown themselves to be unprincipled, untrustworthy and unreliable.

The members of the Journalist need to be exposed and the conspiracy laid bare for all to see.

And no, an apology will not do.

Daniel Klein says liberals and progressives do poorly questions of basic economics

How did the six ideological groups do overall? Here they are, best to worst, with an average number of incorrect responses from 0 to 8: Very conservative, 1.30; Libertarian, 1.38; Conservative, 1.67; Moderate, 3.67; Liberal, 4.69; Progressive/very liberal, 5.26.

Americans in the first three categories do reasonably well. But the left has trouble squaring economic thinking with their political psychology, morals and aesthetics.

Read the whole thing. Liberals and Progressives consistently get more questions of basic economics wrong. These aren’t political questions, but questions of basic economics that virtually all economists, left or right, agree on.

No wonder the economy is such a disaster.

The Lying Liars and their lies.

Joanna brings up something I’ve noticed the last few years.

The media seems to have taken Baghdad Bob as a role model, parroting the most outrageous lies as straight news.

If you tune in to CNN or MSNBC you can almost see the fear sweat on their faces as they uncritically read press releases they don’t understand, praying to a god they don’t believe in that they can get through one more day without the kid on the street announcing their nakedness.

Their moral relativism has made them incapable of discerning reality and the daily effort to keep the narrative going is starting to show the stress cracks of cognitive dissonance.

The MSM is rapidly approaching their “tanks in the background” moment.

Via Gateway Pundit:

The socialists think they can just make up any bullshit they want. “Fake but Accurate” wasn’t just about Dan Rather, it’s the entire progressive socialist outlook. It doesn’t have to be true, accurate or even makes sense as long as it follows the narrative and promotes the agenda.

Fortunately Ayaan Hirsi Ali isn’t putting up with Travis Smiley’s bullshit.

I like her.

Via Don Boudreaux at Cafe Hayek:

Ever wonder why “the government” is so incompetent?

One reason is that morons like this are in charge.

Congressman Faleomavaega announced today that he is calling upon Walter Williams, a nationally syndicated columnist, to apologize for his ‘breathtakingly stupid’ comments about the productivity of Samoan cannery workers.

The comments in question are from this article by Walter Williams about the failure of minimum wage increases in American Samoa.

Unfortunately for (non-voting)Congressman Faleomavaega, stupidity and wishful thinking will not change reality. Unproductive people will still be poor despite his press releases. Minimum wage laws will always increase unemployment despite his wishes. Nothing he can say or do will make a business operate at a loss.

(I notice that Faleomavaega also opposes free trade and consistently lobbies for more handouts for American Samoa. Figures… he is a Socialist Democrat, after all.)

One of the reasons the US (and the world in general) is having an economic crises now is that for too long stupidity and wishful thinking have been the basis for decision making among the political class. Fortunately, those ideas are not sustainable in the long run. Unfortunately strife and bloodshed usually accompany their inevitable downfall.

Let’s hope the overthrow of socialism in the US is as bloodless as it was in the former USSR.

Is it projection?

The Soviet Union was big on throwing people into “mental hospitals” too if they didn’t buy the Marxist line and were too well connected to just shoot.
